See fixtures for details of any upcoming fixtures for the National Automation Limited minors. The McGovern Directional Drilling had what may prove to be a very significant O’Rourke Cup victory over Strokestown in a very exciting game in the Abbey Park on Saturday. The team went in a point down at half time but a 10 minute period at the beginning of the second half saw the tables turn and a goal from Mark O'Connor put the game beyond the reach of Strokestown. Best for Boyle were Evan McGrath, Roch Hanmore and Darren O'Connor. The team have one remaining fixture in this competition--against Kilmore on a date to be arranged. They will be back in Senior Championship action on Sunday evening next when they take on Castlerea St Kevins in the play-off to determine the one remaining Championship Quarter Final place. This game will be played in Strokestown at 6.15pm. The Club encourages full support in this important game for the lads.
The commemorative seat in memory of the late Eoin Lavin was unveiled in the Abbey Park on Saturday evening last following the O’Rourke Cup game with Strokestown. The unveiling was done by Eoin’s colleagues on the County Division 1 Minor Championship winning team of 2011. It was blessed by Father Donal Morris. The Club thanks everyone who subscribed to the seat, and including Ciaran and Sharon Phelan of Minor and U21 team sponsors National Automation Limited. Thanks also to the Strokestown team and supporters who kindly honoured Eoin and his family and our Club by staying for the ceremony. The Club thanks all who assisted in catering, stewarding and all other aspects of preparation for the event. Thanks is extended to Father Donal for performing the blessing and the Club extends its best wishes to him as he moves shortly to Loughlynn.
Tickets are still available for the forthcoming fundraising draw which includes prizes of aload of quality firewood, 500 litres of heating oil, vouchers and cash prizes. Tickets are available from Club members and players. The funds are required to carry out badly needed improvements to the training pitch at the lower end of Abbey Park.
