Boyle GAA Update 18th August

The following were €20 winners in the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Dalys: Gary Sheerin, Michael Smith (Jnr), Sandra McCrann, Martin Supple, Sorcha Ward and Eoin Beirne. The house prize was won by Jessica Daly. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at €6,900 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in the Moylurg Inn. Team D will be in charge. The Club has embarked on a fundraising raffle to help fund the upgrading of the training pitch in the Abbey Park. First prize is a trailer load of timber, 2nd prize is 500 litres of heating oil (sponsored by David O’Connor/ Corrib Oil, 3rd prize is €150 voucher (sponsored by Greenan Electrical), 4th prize is €100 voucher (sponsored by McDonaghs Mace), 5th prize -€100 cash. Tickets are available from all Club members and players.
The U12s defeated St Michael in the Keenan Cup semi final on Tuesday last. They are now awaiting details of the final of this popular competition. Their A Team defeated Clan na Gael in the Division 1 Summer/ Autumn League on Sunday, while the B Team lost to Clan’s B Team.
The U16s will play Michael Glaveys in Loughglynn on this Tuesday at 7pm in the Division 3 Championship.
The National Automation Limited minors got a walkover from Kilglass Gaels/ St Barrys in the Division 3 Championship during the week.
The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors are still awaiting details of their next Championship outing.
The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors lost to a stronger Padraig Pearses in the last group game of the Senior Championship on Sunday in Pairc an Phiarsaigh.  Our lads have retained senior championship status and they will play-off with Castlerea St Kevins to determine who will occupy the final place in the championship quarter final.
It’s back to O’Rourke Cup action on Saturday next when we will entertain Strokestown in the Abbey Park at 6.30pm. This game will be followed by the unveiling and blessing of a memorial seat in Abbey Park in memory of former underage Boyle player, the late Eoin Lavin. All are welcome to attend this event. Club stewards will be required to attend in the grounds at 5.15pm for the evening activities.
The Club extends its sympathy to the Gunning family on the recent death of Ted Gunning.
Congratulations are extended to the Community Games U14 Quiz team and the U13 Choir on winning silver medals in the National Finals in Athlone and to Kate Garavan who finished 4th in U12 Art.
